We’re thrilled to announce that award-winning Chef, Conor Mertens will be leading Elephant Hill’s culinary experience as Head Chef. Previously Head Chef at renowned establishments - Auckland’s two hatted Orphans Kitchen, and Hillside in Wellington. He has also worked in Michelin starred restaurants in Tokyo, founded his own Chimera restaurant, and having earned recognition as Hawke’s Bay Hospitality Awards 2022 Outstanding Chef of the Year and Cuisine’s 2019 One to Watch - Rising Talent, Mertens brings extraordinary expertise and experience to Elephant Hill.Conor’s menu will be inspired by the elemental concepts of Sea, Earth and Stone, which lies at the heart of Elephant Hill’s winemaking philosophy. Working with the best that each can offer – including pristine, sometimes overlooked, ingredients from the sea, seasonal vegetables and livestock from the earth, including from our own winery garden, and the depth and minerality drawn from stone. The goal is to create dishes that not only reflect the wines we make but also honour the whenua they come from.We can't wait to introduce to you, our new food and wine experience when you next book with us here at Elephant Hill.

OMAKASE - Saturday 2nd August
Join us at Elephant Hill for a special evening with award-winning chef Conor Mertens.
This omakase-style dinner will feature six individually plated courses, plus curated bites to begin. Omakase meaning “I’ll leave it up to you” entrusts the chef to design a unique dining experience using seasonal ingredients and creative freedom.
Each dish will be personally presented by Conor, creating a rare opportunity to hear directly from the chef as he shares the inspiration behind each course.
Wines will be specially selected from Elephant Hill’s library cellar, including rare bottles and large formats thoughtfully matched to each course.
Please note: Due to the nature of the menu, we are unable to accommodate dietary requirements.

Guided Tastings:
$35 per person
Our guided tastings are ideal for wine enthusiasts eager to learn more about our entire range, including some of our most special selections.
Fees are waived with any 2 bottles of wine purchased when you take our 'Guided Tastings' option.
